We already knew there would be not be a Triple Crown winner in horse racing this year. But there will still be drama at the Belmont Stakes.
Saturday’s race will feature the much-anticipated rematch between Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty and Preakness winner Journalism. Sovereignty didn’t run in the Preakness after finishing 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Journalism in the opening leg of the Triple Crown.
Journalism, who drew the No. 7 post position for the Belmont, was the morning-line favorite at 8-5, followed closely by Sovereignty at 2-1 from the No. 2 post.
The 157th Belmont Stakes will be run at Saratoga in Upstate New York for a second straight year while Belmont Park is being rebuilt. Post time for Saturday’s main event is 7:04 p.m. ET.
