Angel Reese delivered a historic performance Monday, powering the Atlanta Dream past the Los Angeles Sparks while rewriting the WNBA record book.
Reese grabbed 26 rebounds in Atlanta’s 78-71 victory, breaking the league’s single-game rebounding record. She surpassed the previous mark of 24 rebounds, set by Chamique Holdsclaw in 2003.

The milestone night did not stop there. Reese’s 20th rebound gave her 452 this season, moving her past A’ja Wilson’s 2024 total for the most rebounds in one WNBA season.

Reese finished with 11 points and recorded her 27th double-double of the season. Reese now owns both major rebounding records, with six regular-season games remaining.
“I just want to do that every single night,” Reese told reporters after the game. “I want to be able to show up for my team every night.”
Reese said personal milestones follow consistent team performances. “I think the personal goals, they come with it. When you’re great every night and you show up for your team and you’re consistent, I think everything else works out,” she said.

Reese’s rebounding changes how Atlanta can structure possessions. Her ability to create extra opportunities reduces pressure on scorers Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray.
Reese’s work also gives the Dream an important interior advantage against teams that rely heavily on perimeter scoring. Her offensive rebounding can extend possessions and force defenses into difficult rotations.

Atlanta has already secured a playoff berth and sits among the league’s top teams. Reese’s production gives the Dream another path to control games when their perimeter offense struggles.

The biggest question now concerns on sustainability. Reese has already carried a huge rebounding workload, and Atlanta must manage her minutes without reducing her impact.
Her record-breaking night suggests the Dream can lean on her interior dominance during the postseason. More importantly, Reese’s focus remains on winning rather than individual numbers.

Reese wants “to be able to show up” for her team, so for Atlanta, that consistency could become its biggest advantage when the playoffs begin.
