Indiana Lands First 2028 Verbal Commitment From Freestyler Sawyer Wilson
NEW COMMIT: Indiana University has officially opened its Class of 2032 recruiting, landing a verbal commitment from Sawyer Wilson of Lexington, Ky. Wilson is a Junior National qualifier who excels in sprint freestyle.
He will arrive in Bloomington as a member of the Hoosiers’ Class of 2028.
Regarding his commitment, he said:

Wilson trains year-round with Kentucky Aquatics. He most recently competed at NCSA Summer Championships where he took fourth in the 200m free and fifth in the 100m free, earning a total of four best times. He was the runner-up in the 200 free at Cary Speedo Sectionals in March, also taking fourth in the 100 free. He won the 100 free and 200 free at the Kentucky 13&O Championships in March as well.
His best times include:
- 50 free – 20.64
- 100 free – 44.36
- 200 free – 1:37.50
Now a junior at Madison Central High School, Wilson finished 11th in the 100 free at the 2025 Kentucky State Championships during his freshman season.
Wilson will join a Hoosier Swimming and Diving program that has won six national championships, 37 Big Ten team titles and 551 Big Ten individual titles in addition to producing 111 Olympians and 1596 All-America honorees.
They won the Big Ten title in 2026 before going on to place third at the 2026 NCAA Championships.
