A new Indiana State women’s basketball commitment, 5-foot-8 junior-to-be Amaya Blake, announced her decision to join the Sycamores with a post on her X account Saturday morning.
Blake hails from Kansas City, Mo., and attended Park Hill High School.

Prior to committing to ISU, Blake played two seasons at Missouri-St. Louis, an NCAA Division II institution. Throughout those seasons, she averaged 30.9 minutes a game and averaged 10.1 points, 1.7 assists and 2.7 rebounds over 55 games (53 starts).
She joins Kennedy Claybrooks from Southeast Missouri State and Kayla Smith from Prairie View A&M as the third commitment after the Sycamores lost all of last season’s team to graduation and the NCAA transfer portal.
Since then, Bella Finnegan and Keslyn Secrist announced their commitments to Illinois State and Murray State respectively. Secrist and Finnegan were two of the Sycamores’ top players during the 2024-25 campaign.
Per assistant director of athletic communications Kieran Intemann, two others have filed their paperwork and signed to play for ISU. Those names have not been announced because they have yet to post about it on their social-media accounts and the ISU women’s basketball program is focused on the on-court aspects of the program.
Next season will be Mitchell’s second.
Last season’s ISU team finished with school-record-low win totals — 4-28 overall and 2-18 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
