Michigan State women’s basketball adds Bianca Smith as assistant coach

The Michigan State women’s basketball program announced the addition of Bianca Smith as an assistant coach on April 24.

Smith joins the Spartan staff after spending a season as an assistant at Colorado.

“We are thrilled to welcome Bianca Smith to the Michigan State women’s basketball program,” MSU coach Robyn Fralick said in a released statement. “Her energy, enthusiasm for basketball, work ethic and investment in relationships will be great additions to the program. Bianca has coached at all levels, working her way up in the coaching ranks, and she has also played at the highest level. We are so excited about her impact on our program and the infusion of energy she will bring every day.”

Smith replaces Marwan Miller on the Spartan bench.

Previous coaching stops for Smith  also included time at Lamar, Loyola Chicago, Pittsburgh, Rice and Texas Southern. Smith was at Lamar for four seasons and served as the associate head coach there before departing for Colorado, which is her alma mater.

Smith, is a 2010 Colorado graduate, and scored 1,138 points during her career. She ended her career as the all-time leader in made 3s (257) and in single-season made 3-pointers (82).
