“We are excited to welcome Mark to the Albany State Athletics RAMily,” said Dr. Kristene Kelly, ASU Director of Athletics. “His familiarity with Albany State, along with his extensive experience in game day operations and facility management, made him a clear choice. But what truly stood out was his passion for the role, his commitment to service, and his genuine love for Albany State’s mission and community.”

Brown previously served as Program Director at the Albany YMCA, where he oversaw youth soccer and basketball leagues and managed adult pickleball programming. He has also worked closely with Albany State in recent years, contributing to the university’s Youth Enrichment Program in 2023 and 2024 as a recreational instructor and athletic program assistant.

“I’ve come full circle,” Brown said. “This is a place that means a lot to me, and I’m grateful to Dr. Kelly and the search committee for the opportunity. I’m thrilled to be a Golden Ram and ready to get to work.”

Prior to his role at the YMCA, Brown spent 16 years at Andrew College in Cuthbert, where he served as Athletic Fields and Operations Manager and Sports Information Director. His responsibilities included maintaining and managing multiple athletic fields, coordinating logistics for over 70 annual events—including games, commencements, and convocations—and overseeing transportation and work-study student staff.

A native of Shellman, Georgia, Brown holds a Master of Education from Columbus State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Valdosta State College. A former collegiate baseball player, he was a member of Valdosta State’s 1979 NCAA Division II National Championship team. He has also coached both baseball and fast pitch softball at the collegiate level and held leadership roles in his local community.

Brown’s appointment continues Albany State’s efforts to enhance athletic facilities and game day operations while reinforcing its commitment to student-athletes and the broader campus community.
