NASCAR fans are in agreement on Amazon Prime's "Earnhardt" documentary, which came out on Thursday, May 22.
The four-part documentary series dives deep on the late NASCAR driver, who lost his life in a crash at the Daytona 500 in 2001. The first two episodes of the documentary are out on Thursday, while the last two will come out later this weekend. The documentary series looks at Earnhardt's life on and off of the track.
Both Dale Jr. and his sister, Kelley, were deeply involved in the project.
"Yeah, we’ve seen it. Me and Kelly actually watched several versions of a few episodes trying to help the team get to a final place on the edits. So yeah, it’s been a project that we’ve been heavily involved in," Dale Jr. told TV Insider.
Dale Jr. added that it was interesting to see how his dad dealt with everything.
"I think sometimes for some things it’s changed, but I think just certain people are going to do things a certain way. Some people deal with grief or grieving or loss differently. Everybody’s kind of different. So I don’t know. The trouble, I guess, is that Dad’s not here for us to ask, and that’s probably the most frustrating part. There’s so many questions that you’d have to ask Dad, and doing this documentary and putting this all together just really created more questions and reminded you of things that you hadn’t thought about that you’d love to know what his thoughts were," he added.
NASCAR fans, meanwhile, appear to be loving the documentary series on Amazon Prime.
The fan base has taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to sound off on the series.
"Caught this. Awesome man," one fan wrote.
"I’ve already watched both episodes and they were outstanding!! Can’t wait for the other two to be released," one fan added.
"I was tearing up in episode 2. When Dale was reading that speech note about his best friend who passed," one fan added.
"Loved it as a life long fan cannot wait for the next 2 episodes. Thank you so much for doing this!!" one fan added.
