The Illinois high school football season got extended by a few days.

Finally on Wednesday night, it will conclude with the Class 8A IHSA championship game, which will pit Mount Carmel against Oswego.
The game is slated to kick off at 6 p.m. local time, although that could be delayed depending on the length of the Class 7A game beforehand.
The contest will be staged at Northern Illinois’ Huskie Stadium in DeKalb.
Mount Carmel enters the game ranked as the No. 1 team in the state of Illinois and carrying a 13-0 record.
In the state semifinals, Mount Carmel won 42-21 over Palatine Fremd.
Mount Carmel has won 16 state championships, and this time around, they’re going for a 4-peat.

Oswego comes in at 11-2 looking to pull the massive upset.
The Panthers beat Lockport Township in a narrow semifinal, 10-7, to get to this final game.
Oswego has won two state championships, first in 1992 and again in 2003.
