After landing Oklahoma transfer guard, how many players are on Texas A&M’s roster?

by admin

New Texas A&M head coach Bucky McMillan has made significant strides over the past two weeks, as the former Samford head coach brings a pedigree unknown to the mainstream fan, but after 99 wins and with the Samford Bulldogs, including taking the program to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2000.

Buzz Williams departed College Station with the plan to take Texas A&M’s remaining starters, forwards Pharrel Payne and Solomon Washington, who immediately followed him to Maryland. This left McMillan with just one player, sophomore forward Chris McDeromott, on the roster. With that, McMillan’s transfer portal plan took time to heat up, but after landing star guard Jacari Lane (North Alabama) and Kansas forward Zach Clemence, the Alabama native has been on a roll.

Last Thursday, the Aggies landed a commitment from standout forward and former five-star prospect Mackenzie Mgbuke. Mgbuke played for Indiana in his previous two seasons. He was immediately followed by former Samford guard Josh Holloway, who followed his former head coach to College Station hours later.

With six players on the roster, it was revealed that Oklahoma transfer guard Duke Miles would visit Texas A&M on Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday afternoon, it was announced that Miles had committed to the Aggies, as the fellow Alabama native faced McMillan during his high school coaching days.

With Miles’ commitment, Texas A&M now has seven players on the roster, which includes five transfer portal additions, returning forward Chris McDermott, and incoming freshman combo guard Jeremiah Green.
