A Look at the NCAA Records: Ahmed Jaouadi the Only Active Record-Holder
Now that September is upon us, NCAA action is ready to heat up. The campaign will be interesting, especially with the College Swimming League prepared to open its inaugural season. The NCAA Championships will be held from March 24-27 at the University of Texas’ Jamail Swim Center, with the host Longhorns chasing a third consecutive title.
In an interesting twist, only one of the 14 individual NCAA records is held by an active swimmer. Florida’s Ahmed Jaouadi, heading into his sophomore season, is the NCAA record-holder in the 1650-yard freestyle. The Tunisian world champion set the mark at last year’s NCAA Champs, going 14:10.03.
