Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers due to a superficial blood clot.
The team released a statement on Thursday saying that on Oct. 8 Hurts asked the Eagles’ training staff to treat his calf after being cleated during their game against the Los Angeles Rams days earlier. An ultrasound was performed on Oct. 10 after the team flew to London. The results showed a superficial blood clot, but that doctors and medical staff concluded “activity and mobility were important and that Jalen could safely play.”

A follow-up ultrasound was recommended after Hurts and the team returned from England.
“Jalen played without limitation in the game Sunday, received treatment on Monday and Tuesday, and practiced in full on Wednesday, as reflected in the practice report. Throughout our time in London and this week, we have remained in communication with the league office regarding the matter.
“On Wednesday night, a follow-up ultrasound revealed movement in the small blood clot. Jalen will be out for Sunday’s game vs. the Panthers as we determine the appropriate course of treatment. His health and safety are our highest priority.”
