Everything Ar’maj Reed-Adams and Taurean York said ahead of Texas A&M’s spring game

by admin

It’s a busy week for Texas A&M football. While working the 2025 spring transfer portal, they are also preparing for the annual spring football game on Saturday.

This is the first actual offseason under head coach Mike Elko, and while everything isn’t perfect, they know the standard. They are now practicing more freely, which gives them more opportunities to focus on getting the small details right. Now that Marcel Reed is the No. 1 quarterback and with the addition of a few defensive staff members, everyone is hoping there is more consistency across the board.

Earlier in the week, coach Elko named Trey Zuhn III, Ar’maj Reed-Adams, and Taurean York as the captains for the 2025 football season. Having two offensive linemen as captains speaks volumes to the leadership in that room and the trust coach Elko has that group to set the tone this upcoming season.

Reed-Adams and York spoke to the media during their weekly press conference ahead of the 2025 spring football game.

Ar’maj Reed-Adams comments on being named a captain

“It means a lot, especially being voted on by the team after only being here a year.”

“It took time to build genuine relationships with pretty much everyone on that team. … I’m glad it’s paying off and they respect me on and off the field.”

Reed-Adams on the growth of the offensive line

“I’ve seen the growth for the whole offensive line and everybody improving on things we’ve been talking about.”

“Eyes, communication and being one unit.”

The offensive line has some lofty goals for the season

“Joe Moore and leading this team to a national championship. I think we’ve got the pieces behind the line and the defense to do it.”

Reed-Adams speaks on the current roster

“We’re at a very positive spot with our roster. Any additions will be welcome, but I think we can do it with the guys we’ve got right now.”

“Our team rotates a lot, so we get a lot of players on the field… If you feel like you’re good enough, this is the place you need to be.”

Reed-Adams on Marcel Reed

“He has always been a pro. He has always been taking it like he was going to be a starter.”

“Marcel is poised for a big season. Kid can spin the ball, put it wherever he wants it and throw it however far he wants it.”

Taurean York comments on the spring game

“Let’s just go get the ball, really. Do our job. Play physical, play downhill.”

York speaks on the close the team has become

“It’s a tight-knit team. I haven’t really heard transfer portal talks, so I’m proud about that.”

York comments on the leadership across the team

“It takes everybody on the team. Just because I have a C on my chest doesn’t mean I should be the only leader on the team.”

York talks about his fellow captain Ar-maj Reed-Adams

“He’s a real Aggie. He has always wanted to be a Texas A&M Aggie.”

“I knew he was really here for the right reasons.”

York gives his thoughts on the defense for the 2025 season

“We’re going to be good on defense. We’ve fine-tuned some things.”

“I like where we’re trending right now.”

Taurean York speaks on where the needed to improve

“We had to get a whole lot better and finish a whole lot better.”

“We’re progressing every day, looking forward to the spring game and putting it on display for the fans.”

York reveals his first pick in the spring game draft

“Cashius (Howell). He’s a beast. He can put it on display. Trust me, he’s really good.”
