A surprising turn in Indiana’s preseason plans has left Fever faithful fuming.
Star guard Caitlin Clark has been ruled out of today’s preseason opener against the Washington Mystics.
A starting five of Sydney Colson, Kelsey Mitchell, DeWanna Bonner, Natasha Howard, and Aliyah Boston will take the floor instead.

Clark, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year and league assist leader, was originally listed as “questionable” with a left leg issue.
However, on Saturday, just before tip-off, Fever beat reporter Scott Agness confirmed on X that Clark would miss the game.
The worry now is whether or not this injury will carry forward into Sunday for Clark’s homecoming game back at Carver Hawkeye Arena.
Fans were displeased when they heard the news, to say the least.
One commenter said, “Already hurt?” while another user remarked, “Colson? Ok…”
Responding to a separate post was one user who said, “This is a joke. Caitlin Clark saved the WNBA and you start Sydney Colson over her in our season opener. 😭😭😭😭 and people wonder why the wnba doesn’t make any money.”

Another commenter responded, “Can you imagine if you bought tickets for this??”, while one user said, “WTF. No sophie, no CC, no Lexie. It’s a blackout.”
Another user summed it up with, “WE are NOT watching now.”

Clark earned 66 of 67 votes for Rookie of the Year in 2024 and became only the fifth rookie ever named to the All-WNBA First Team.
She averaged 19.2 points per game, broke the rookie scoring record, and sank 122 3-pointers, the second most in a single season.
