The Texas A&M Aggies qualified for the 2025 men’s NCAA Tournament, but after getting past Yale in the opening round, they fell to Michigan by a final score of 91-79 in the following round.
The transfer portal has been whirring in recent days, with many players entering and subsequently committing to a new team, and the Aggies landed some significant help on Thursday.

Mackenzie Mgbako, a forward who was previously with the Indiana Hoosiers for the last two seasons, has reportedly committed to heading south and suiting up for Texas A&M this fall. He announced the news in a post on his Instagram account.
“Gig’em,” he wrote. “#committed.”
Mgbako averaged 12.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 25.1 minutes a game this past season for the Hoosiers. In 2025, they went 19-13 and failed to reach the tournament for the second straight year.
A native of New Jersey, he was a five-star recruit coming out of Roselle Catholic High School. He initially committed to Duke, but then ended up at Indiana, where he was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year for the 2023-24 season.

He is poised to give Texas A&M some much-needed frontcourt scoring as it prepares for next season under head coach Bucky McMillan.

While Texas A&M is considered a powerhouse in college football, its men’s college basketball team hasn’t had the same type of success over the years. While it has reached the NCAA Tournament 11 times in the last 20 years, it has never won a national championship, nor has it even gotten as far as the Elite Eight.
