Ohio State isn’t necessarily known for its female basketball program, but it’s been on a very good run lately, with several NCAA Tournament appearances in a row and a few Big Ten titles, with head coach Kevin McGuff steering the ship.
Because of that, we’ve seen some former Lady Bucks drafted into the WNBA, but it’s a different ball game there because of the roster size and number of teams. It’s not as easy to make a roster, even if you are a high-round draft pick. But don’t tell that to former OSU guard Taylor Thierry, who has made the Atlanta Dream opening day roster after being selected in the third round of this year’s draft.

The news was announced via the Dream’s social media accounts, and Thierry was one of eleven roster spots that will start play this week.
Thierry averaged double-figures her last three years in Columbus, and played the most of her career last season, averaging 10.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.3 steals on 31.2 minutes of play during the 2024-2025 campaign. Thierry was the only Ohio State player drafted this season, but made it 20 total from the Ohio State program.
Here’s to nothing but the best for Thierry as she continues her basketball career at the highest level.
