Hakan Cakiroglu (Türkiye) was elected President of World Archery Europe at the continental association’s 20th Congress on 20 May 2026 in Antalya (Türkiye).

Outgoing president Mario Scarzella was named Honorary President after two decades of service in the role. First elected in 2006, he served five mandates in total and was presented with a golden arrow in recognition of his long-standing contribution to archery in Europe.

“Congratulations to Hakan Cakiroglu on his election as President of World Archery Europe. Europe continues to play an important role in the growth and development of our sport, and I look forward to working closely with him and the member associations across the continent in the years ahead,” said World Archery President Greg Easton.

“I would also like to sincerely thank Mario Scarzella for his many years of dedicated service and leadership. The recognition of his contribution to archery over the last 20 years is richly deserved.”

Outgoing secretary general Alessandra Colasante was also recognised for her long years of service.

Congress delegates elected Jörg Brokamp (Germany) and Julien Megret (France) as vice presidents.

Arnoud Strijbis (Netherlands), Rifaat Chabouk (Spain), and Maya Shalaby (Slovenia) were voted in as members of the World Archery Europe Executive Board. Shalaby will serve a shortened two-year term.

Elections were also held for several of the organisation’s committees.
