Houston men’s basketball had the chance to walk away with a buzzer-beater to win the 2025 men’s NCAA tournament on Monday night in San Antonio.
However, Cougars guard Emanuel Sharp found himself in a difficult position in the game’s final seconds that helped seal Florida‘s national title victory.

As the seconds ticked off the clock in the contest, Sharp got the ball, tried to shoot and failed to follow through with the attempt and then found himself in the impossible spot of not being able to touch the ball again.
The Gators swarmed the basketball, took possession and heard the final buzzer to win the championship game.
If Sharp had touched the ball after the failed shot attempt, it would have immediately registered as a turnover via a double dribble. He was up a creek without a paddle in that pivotal moment, and Florida capitalized on it.
What a tough break for Houston after such a brilliant March Madness run.
