Spartanburg Day School will have a new face spearheading its girls basketball program during the 2025-26 season.

Elizabeth Konradi, a recent graduate of the University of the South (Sewanee), will begin her head coaching journey this year, and she couldn’t be any more ready.

“I think success is really team-dependent,” Konradi said. “It’s about meeting with the girls this summer, facilitating team workouts and meeting each player’s needs. It’ll be hard work but also a lot of fun. I’m excited for it and can’t wait.”

Konradi is originally from Dallas and played high school basketball at the Episcopal School of Dallas. She set a school record for blocked shots in a season (135) and was a first-team All-Southwest Preparatory Conference selection. She continued her athletic career at the University of the South (Sewanee), where she made the SAA Academic Honor Roll.

She has much on-court experience, but her new gig with Spartanburg Day will be her first varsity head coaching position.

“I’m really excited to be a part of this community,” Konradi said. “Throughout the past couple of weeks, I’ve already met with different parents and connected with some of the players. They have all shown a big commitment level to growth, and that’s just a really exciting thing to be a part of.”

Luckily for Konradi, she’ll have a lot of experience right by her side. Sharon Dillon will serve as her assistant. Dillion is a 1986 graduate of Spartanburg High School and began her head coaching career in 1997 at Broome, where she led the program to a state title. She returned to Spartanburg in 2006 to coach the girls basketball program for 17 seasons.

“She (Sharon) is really a lifelong basketball-committed person,” Konradi said. “She’s been great to the basketball community in Spartanburg and has a great legacy. Partnering with her will be a unique scene because she can provide some mentorship as well. I’m excited because she’s going to be an amazing asset, and I think this will be a great pairing.”

Last season, Spartanburg Day finished 4-14, including 2-4 in SCISA Region 2-AAA. Konradi’s goals for her inaugural season are more that just an improved record.

“Honestly, I want effort,” Konradi said. “If I’m committed, my assistants are committed, the girls are committed … we can be great. Everyone has to want to get better and rely on each other as a unit and a team.”
