As the WNBA season swiftly approaches, the Indiana Fever have exercised the fourth-year rookie scale contract option for forward Aliyah Boston. The team announced the move on Friday but officially completed it on Thursday.
The 2022 national championship-winning forward for the South Carolina Gamecocks and former No. 1 pick by the Fever in the 2023 WNBA Draft will now remain a part of the franchise for at least two more seasons. The move makes her eligible to become a restricted free agent after completing the 2026 season.

Boston unanimously won the 2023 WNBA Rookie of the Year award after a 2023 season in which she became the first rookie to lead the WNBA in field goal percentage (57.8 percent).
Over her two seasons with the Fever, Boston has averaged 14.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.2 blocks.
With the franchise investing heavily into bulking up on veteran players to surround its core of Boston, Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and Lexie Hull, the move indicates the team is predicting the second-year forward to be a significant part of their success in 2025 and 2026.
The Fever officially open their 2025 WNBA regular season on May 17, when Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky visit Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind. That game will begin at 2 p.m. CT and be broadcast nationally on ABC, ESPN+, and Disney+.
