The Iowa Hawkeyes were one of two finalists for Utah Valley transfer guard Tanner Toolson.
A 6-foot-5, 200-pound guard, Toolson was down to Iowa or TCU. On Sunday night, reports broke that Toolson had signed with TCU. CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz broke the Sunday night news.

The junior-to-be visited Iowa last week before inking with the Frogs. Toolson played in and started all 34 games with Utah Valley where averaged 13.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 45.3% from the field, 34.9% from 3-point range and 79.2% from the free-throw line.
Toolson scored in double figures 25 times last season, including a season-high 28 points against Grand Canyon in the WAC Tournament championship game. The Vancouver, Wash., native helped lead Utah Valley to the WAC regular-season championship and an appearance in the NIT.
Toolson was honored as a second-team All-WAC selection last season. Toolson began his career at BYU before transferring to Utah Valley and starting 65 games over the past two seasons.

While Iowa will have to look in another direction in its backcourt, the Hawkeyes got big news of their own on Sunday night.
Reigning Horizon League Player of the Year and former Robert Morris forward Alvaro Folgueiras committed to the Hawkeyes.
The 6-foot-9, 215 pound forward averaged 14.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game while shooting 54.8% from the field, 41.3% from 3-point range and 78.4% from the free-throw line. A native of Málaga, Spain, Folgueiras played in and started all 35 games last season as he led the Colonials to the Horizon League regular season and tournament championships.
Iowa has also been in contact with former Southern Illinois guard Kennard Davis Jr. as the Hawkeyes work to finalize their first roster under new head coach Ben McCollum.
