San Diego State’s Miles Byrd, the Mountain West DPOY and all-league junior, is expected to announce his decision tomorrow, source told @TheFieldOf68. Byrd, a 6-6 wing who averaged 10.4 points and is an NBA prospect, will choose from Baylor, Louisville, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Providence, Texas and Vandy.

Sources have told Matt Jones of KSR, “two days ago Chandler asked for a number that would have been the 2nd largest amount any player has gotten at UK. UK declined to match.”

Kentucky is expected to be in play for Syracuse forward Donnie Freeman. He is ranked 10th overall in the transfer portal by USA Today, according to A Sea of Blue. Freeman averaged 16.5 points and 7.2 rebounds for Syracuse in 2025-26.

Top-5 transfer target Paulius Murauskas will speak to Kentucky via “zoom call” on Thursday according to Jacob Polacheck of KSR/On3. Murauskas is a 6’8, 235-pound forward from Saint Mary’s. However, in 2023 Murauskas was a 4-star (90) recruit who played his rookies season with Arizona.

In the first 24 hours, Kentucky has made confirmed contact with two portal targets according to the Lexington Herald. LSU junior point guard Dedan Thomas Jr and Butler junior guard Finley Bizjack. Both players averaged over 15 points per game and both shoot the three at 35% or better.

The Herald also expects to pursue two players that had previously been contacted by Kentucky. San Diego State junior guard Miles Byrd and San Francisco sophomore guard Tyrone Riley IV.

April 7, 2026

Kentucky is expected to show some interest in BYU guard Rob Wright. The Wildcats previously showed interest in Wright when he was transferring from Baylor, according to A Sea of Blue.
