Qualification was completed for all sighted archers at the Rome 2025 European Para Archery World Cup today, with qualification for visually impaired archers to start on Thursday at the Spinacito field.
In compound, Great Britain showed the dominance that led them to two medals in Paris, with Nathan MacQueen topping the men’s board with 697 and Jodie Grinham on 694, ten points clear of her teammate Jessica Stretton.
Guillaume Toucoullet of France dominated qualification in recurve men, finishing with 664, a full 37 points ahead of the top-ranked Kwak Geonhwi of Korea. The 40-year-old Toucollet, runner up at the world championships in 2022, is very much looking like the favourite here in Rome. India’s Pooja topped the recurve women’s field with a similarly dominant 571.
Isabel Fernandez Jimenez of Spain led the five-strong women’s W1 field with 618 with Italy’s Paolo Tonon leading the men’s board with a 646.
The Para Archery World Cup events feature team competition in pairs, both as doubles and mixed team. After today’s results, India are in pole position for men’s and mixed recurve, Great Britain leading men’s, women’s and mixed compound, and Italy on top for W1 men’s, W1 mixed and women’s recurve.
The competition continues with individual eliminations in recurve, compound and W1 on Wednesday.
