After a dazzling finish to Friday’s second round which saw him birdie six of the final seven holes, Rory McIlroy is cruising toward his second consecutive green jacket heading into Saturday at the Masters in Augusta, Georgia, and his huge six-shot lead after two rounds has propelled him to be a -250 favorite. The 36-year-old came into the tournament as the fourth-shortest player at +1,175 and jumped to the top of the odds board at +245 after co-leading the first round.
There’s a large gap on the board before Patrick Reed, tied for second place at 6-under, checks in at 15-1. Tommy Fleetwood (18-1) and Justin Rose (+2,050), tied at 5-under, check in next before Sam Burns, who is the one actually tied with Reed, rounds out the top five at 21-1. Shane Lowry, who is also tied for fourth on the leaderboard, is 34-1.
Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler took a precipitous fall down the board after a tumultuous day left him at even par for the tournament. The two-time Masters champion is a nearly unfathomable 62-1 after entering the event as the +510 favorite.
Scheffler had attracted some of the most action across the sportsbook marketplace, including a leading 9.8% of the tickets and 14.6% of the handle at BetMGM. McIlroy, on the other hand, had not been as heavily played as in years past, according to DraftKings Sportsbook director Johnny Avello, and had drifted significantly from his opening number before tee-off.
Rose was a popular play before the tournament and is considered BetMGM’s second-largest liability. Another public pick, Bryson DeChambeau, failed to make the cut after a disastrous triple bogey on the 18th hole.
