Oklahoma to hire UCLA director of player personnel, per report

by admin

Oklahoma football isn’t through adding to its front office.

The Sooners will hire UCLA director of player personnel Stacey Ford, according to a report from 247 Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Ford worked with Oklahoma offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle at Washington State prior to his stint with the Bruins. In Pullman, Ford served as the team’s director of recruiting.

It’s unclear what role Ford will have at Oklahoma. Drew Hill holds the director of player personnel job currently. When the Sooners hired Jim Nagy as general manager of football earlier this year, Nagy made a point to publicly disclose his long-standing friendship with Hill.

Ford spent two seasons with coach DeShaun Foster in Los Angeles and two seasons at Washington State. Before that, he worked in high school football in L.A.

According to 247Sports’ rankings, Oklahoma has the 12th-ranked transfer portal class in the county and the No. 17 freshman class. The former is highlighted by the addition of California-Berkeley transfer Jadyn Ott at running back and former Wazzu quarterback John Mateer. College football analyst Joel Klatt named Mateer the third-best quarterback in the country earlier in May.

The Sooners are coming off a 6-7 season, their second such mark in the last three years. They open the 2025 slate August 31 at home against FCS foe Illinois State.
