Despite recent speculation, the Pelicans are not viewed as a realistic landing spot for Ja Morant, according to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

New Orleans was recently linked to the Grizzlies star, but league sources indicate the organization remains committed to its current backcourt plans.

The team reportedly views Jeremiah Fears, the No. 7 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, as its long-term answer at point guard, while Dejounte Murray is already under contract and expected to play a major role.

Given Morant’s contract situation, injury history, and off-court concerns, the Pelicans are not believed to be interested in pursuing a deal for the former All-Star.

Meanwhile, New Orleans continues to receive substantial interest from teams around the league regarding Trey Murphy III and Herbert Jones.

According to Stein and Fischer, the Pelicans have set a high asking price and are seeking multiple first-round picks in return for either player, signaling they are not eager to move two of their most valuable wing assets.
