Exciting news hit the sport last week when it was announced that the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028 will feature 50-meter events in all of the strokes. Since 1988, only the 50 freestyle has been contested on the Olympic stage, but that will change when the Summer Games return to the United States for the first time since 1996.
Sprint specialists around the world, including Great Britain’s Adam Peaty and the USA’s Michael Andrew, celebrated the addition of the 50-meter strokes to the Olympic program. Pure speed will be the theme of these events, and their addition certainly provides new opportunities for athletes blessed with fast-twitch muscles!
So, who might win some of the 50-meter stroke events at LA28? While much will transpire between now and then, Swimming World is interested in our readers’ early opinions.
