It’s the first weekend of the new year, as the Premier League continued on Sunday! The big match of the day sees Manchester City host Chelsea looking to close the gap on Arsenal at the top of the table.
The day began with a historical clash as Leeds United hosted local rivals Manchester United and held them to a 1-1 draw thanks to a goal from USMNT star Brenden Aaronson.
In the mid-morning slate, Liverpool thought they’d earned a win at Fulham with Cody Gakpo’s 93rd minute goal, only for Harrison Reed to tie it up in the 96th minute with a stunning long-range strike. Everton were thumped 4-2 at home by Brentford, Newcastle United defeated Crystal Palace 2-0, and Tottenham Hotspur had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Sunderland.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid are in action against Real Betis in LaLiga (stream live on ESPN+), while Tom Brady’s Birmingham City beat Championship leaders Coventry City 3-2.
