Reena Parnat returned to the outdoors season in succesful fashion as she took home the recurve women’s gold at the 2025 Conquest Cup.
The Estonian hadn’t competed outoors since the 2025 Asia Cup-World Ranking Tournament in February having not entered other international events this year such as Central Florida 2025 and Shanghai 2025 – the first two Hyundai World Cups.
It needn’t matter though as Parnat deafeated AIN athlete Nurinisso Makhmudova 6-4 in the usual recurve set-play system under an overcast Istanbul. It is her first outdoors individual gold on the world circuit since the 2019 International Solidarity Championships, that’s a six year absence from the top podium.
The Swiss Open Lausanne bronze medallist was made to work for it though compared to her other matches that took place on Wednesday where she impressively failed to drop a single set against any of her five opponents. Makmudova started the contest fast, shooting two 10s and an eight to capture the opening set but Parnat bounced back to win the following two ends and gain the lead.
AIN’s Makhmudova then dropped her best end of the match in the fourth with a 29 to tie the scores but failed to repeat that score in the last set, hitting three straight nines to get a 27 whilst Parnat dropped her own 29 to seal the gold medal.
Mathias Fullerton – off the back of a very quick turnaround from the recent 2025 Veronica’s Cup – grabbed his second individual gold of the season in the compound men’s discipline at Istanbul.
The world number two superceded his performances in Slovenia here in Türkiye, dropping just one point in the final against home favourite Batuhan Akcaoglu.
Like Fullerton, Croatia’s Amanda Mlinaric also won the gold – though in the compound women’s – after unable to do so in the Veronica’s meanwhile AIN archer Buianto Tsyrendorzhiev surprisingly overcame Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Mete Gazoz in the recurve men’s gold medal match.
