They took part in the WNBA expansion draft on Friday along with the Portland Fire, and maybe the most exciting pick was Marina Mabrey, most recently of the Connecticut Sun.

She’s a player worth all Tempo fans getting to know, because she’s got the potential to be a leader in the early going for Toronto’s new team.

“Mabrey is an elite shooter with All-Star ability,” wrote Jeremy Beren of The Sporting News. “However, consistency has at times eluded the Notre Dame product. With a fresh start under Sandy Brondello in Toronto, Mabrey will have a high usage rate and a platform to play some of her best ball yet.”

Who is Marina Mabrey?

Mabrey is a 29-year old guard originally from New Jersey.
