UFC Fight Night 288 pre-event facts: Multiple records under threat

The fourth annual Noche UFC event goes down Saturday with UFC Fight Night 288 from Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Ariz. The entire event streams on Paramount+.

Featherweight contenders clash in the main event of the card as Jean Silva (17-3 MMA, 6-1 UFC) will look to keep his octagon momentum going and solidify his first shot at gold against replacement opponent Jose Delgado (12-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC). Delgado stepped in for the injured Yair Rodriguez and will look to jump the queue with a breakthrough performance in his first octagon headliner.

Manon Fiorot’s (13-2 MMA, 8-1 UFC) eight victories in UFC women’s flyweight competition are tied for fourth-most in divisional history behind Valentina Shevchenko (12), Maycee Barber (nine) and Katlyn Cerminara (nine).

Fiorot’s three knockout victories in UFC women’s flyweight competition are tied for second-most in divisional history behind Shevchenko (four).

Fiorot defends 87.5 percent of all opponent takedown attempts in UFC women’s flyweight competition, the second-best rate in divisional history behind Natalia Silva (90.3 percent).

Alexa Grasso (17-5-1 MMA, 9-5-1 UFC) is the only Mexican female champion in UFC history.

David Martinez vs. Dan Ige

Dan Ige (19-11 MMA, 11-10 UFC) drops to the bantamweight division for the first time after spending his previous 21 octagon appearances at featherweight or above.

Ige is 1-4 in his past five fights dating back to June 2024.

Ige is one of two featherweights in UFC/WEC combined history to earn multiple knockout wins in less than one minute. Chan Sung Jung also accomplished the feat.

Tim Elliott vs. Edgar Chairez

Tim Elliott (21-15-1 MMA, 10-12 UFC) competes in his 21st UFC flyweight bout, tied with Moreno for most appearances in divisional history.

Elliott is 8-8 since he returned to the UFC for a second stint in December 2016.

Elliott’ seven decision victories in UFC flyweight competition are tied with Benavidez for most in divisional history.

Elliott has landed 63 takedowns in UFC flyweight competition, the most in divisional history.

Elliott has landed 1,921 total strikes in UFC flyweight competition, the most in divisional history.

Edgar Chairez’s (14-6 MMA, 4-2 UFC) three-fight UFC winning streak at flyweight is tied for the third-longest active streak in the division behind Joshua Van (seven) and Manel Kape (four).

Ignacio Bahamondes vs. Muslim Salikhov

Ignacio Bahamondes (17-7 MMA, 6-4 UFC) moves up to the welterweight division after spending his previous UFC tenure at lightweight.

Bahamondes is one of 14 fighters in UFC history to earn a knockout stemming from a spinning wheel kick. He accomplished the feat at UFC on ESPN 29.

Muslim Salikhov (22-6 MMA, 9-5 UFC) is the only fighter in UFC history to earn multiple knockouts stemming from a spinning wheel kick. There’s been 15 overall finishes in the company with the technique.

Drakkar Klose vs. Thomas Gantt

Drakkar Klose (16-3-1 MMA, 10-3 UFC) is one of 15 fighters in UFC history to earn a knockout stemming from a slam. He accomplished the feat at UFC on ESPN 52.

JJ Aldrich vs. Regina Tarin

JJ Aldrich (15-7 MMA, 11-6 UFC) competes in her 14th UFC women’s flyweight bout, tied with three others for the most appearances in divisional history.

Aldrich’s eight victories in UFC women’s flyweight competition are tied for fourth-most in divisional history behind Shevchenko (12), Barber (nine) and Cerminara (nine).
