Brenda Frese, the current Maryland women’s basketball head coach, will be securing her spot in the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame. The University of Maryland athletics department announced her induction for Oct. 16.
Frese has coached women’s basketball for the Terps since 2002, acquiring one national championship for Maryland during the 2006 season. Frese has acquired 14 conference titles and is a two-time National Coach of the Year award recipient.

Since the start of Frese’s Maryland tenure, she has led the Terps to 23 winning seasons, with 20 of those seasons climbing over 20 recorded wins. Under Frese, the Terps carried a strong 76.8% winning percentage with a total of 631 victories, with this year being her 25th season. Maryland looks to keep Frese in continuing to build a stronger program; an extension she signed in 2022 that will keep her till the 2028-29 season.
Frese expressed her gratitude for coaching the Terps.

Maryland women’s lacrosse added another prospect towards their future with midfielder Maddie Moran announcing her verbal commitment to Maryland. Moran is ranked the No. 1 ranked player in the Class of 2028 out of Maryville preparatory school.
Alongside Moran, class of 2028 midfielder Carly Aldrige is announcing her commitment to Maryland women’s lacrosse from Maryville.
Maryland is looking to celebrate its school spirit even more after being ranked No. 3 in USA Today’s list of best colleges for sports fans and No. 5 for best mascot.
