Jerry Jones thinks it is “unlikely” Cowboys add help in a trade

The trade deadline is a couple of weeks away, but things started heating up on Tuesday with the Colts making a pair of trades that could spur other teams to start making moves as well.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has never been shy when it comes to talking about his willingness to make deals in hopes of improving his roster and he’s been particularly vocal about his desire to bolster the defense in Dallas this year. That desire wasn’t satiated by their early move to add cornerback Joey Porter Jr., but Jones said on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday that he doesn’t think anything else is going to come together for the Cowboys.

“If we could do it where we sit right now, I would add to it,” Jones said, via the team’s website. “But the adding to it is a big statement. It’s unlikely we’ll get the opportunity from outside coming in. But if it’s there, I’ll do it.”

There’s enough time left before November 10 for something to develop, but Jones thinks the Cowboys are going to have to play out the rest of the schedule with what’s already on hand.
