Indiana Fever drop thriller vs defending champion New York Liberty

by admin

It looked like Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever were headed toward a signature victory over the reigning WNBA champion New York Liberty.

Spurred on by a pair of Clark 3-pointers to close the third quarter, Clark and the Fever had erased a 15-point, first-half deficit and built a 12-point lead of their own with 8:35 to play. But, a four-and-a-half minutes long drought during the final frame ultimately doomed the Fever in an eventual 90-88 loss against the Liberty. The Fever dropped to 2-2 on the season.

Clark finished with 18 points on 6-of-18 shooting from the field and 2-of-11 shooting from 3-point distance. The Fever were led by a game-high 27 points from forward Aliyah Boston who shot 12-of-19 from the floor and pulled down 13 rebounds to notch her third double-double of the 2025 season.

Indiana guards Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull both scored 15 points. The Fever finished with 16 turnovers compared to the Liberty’s 12, including 10 from Clark.

Indiana returns to action on Wednesday, May 28 when the Fever travels to the Washington Mystics (2-2).
