WNBA Legend Had Four Words After Unfortunate Chicago Sky News originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

After spending the first 12 seasons of her career in Chicago, five-time WNBA All-Star guard Courtney Vandersloot returned to the Sky this offseason after a two-year stint with the New York Liberty. She was averaging 12.0 points and 6.2 assists per contest through the team’s first six games.
Unfortunately, Vandersloot went down with an injury just under five minutes into the contest against the Fever. On Sunday, the Sky confirmed that she tore her right ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season.

2020 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Tamika Catchings played 15 WNBA seasons for the Indiana Fever. She and Vandersloot overlapped for six seasons and developed a rivalry playing in the Eastern Conference.

On Sunday, Catchings responded to the news that Vandersloot had torn her ACL and would miss the rest of the season. She had just four words for her former 2011 WNBA All-Star teammate.
“Dang… praying for you @Sloot22!!! 🙏🏽🥰,” Catchings wrote.
Vandersloot is a two-time WNBA champion and has been an All-WNBA honoree on five occasions in her career. She has led the league in assists seven times and is currently second on the league’s all-time leaderboard for assists.
She also broke the Chicago Sky’s all-time scoring record on May 29 against the Dallas Wings.
The Sky will have to refocus as they’ll face off against the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty on Tuesday. The Liberty will carry an 8-0 record into the game and the Sky will look to avenge their 99 to 74 loss that they suffered against New York earlier in the season.

Tuesday’s game will be played at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST.
