MSU guard Nick Sanders awarded scholarship, celebrates with teammates in fun video

Michigan State basketball did a pretty cool thing on Thursday.

Spartans walk-on Nick Sanders was awarded a scholarship from head coach Tom Izzo and the Michigan State basketball program on Thursday. The Spartans wrapped up a week of offseason camp by Izzo announcing the notable news for Sanders to the team.

You can see the announcement from Izzo and Sanders’ teammates reaction in the video below:

Sanders is a fan favorite and the son of Detroit Lions legend running back Barry Sanders. He is entering his fourth year in the program, with his role growing each year. Sanders has appeared in 26 career games, averaging 0.4 points per game across 1.2 minutes per game.

I personally always enjoy these type of videos and moments since it’s an opportunity to recognize the players who aren’t typically in the spotlight. Sanders clearly deserved this moment and I’m glad the program shared this with fans by posting the reaction video as well.
