India’s men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty on Wednesday lost its Round of 32 match against Malaysia’s Aaron Tai and Khai Xing Kang at the All England Open 2026 in Birmingham.
The World No. 4 pair went down 23-21, 21-12 in 42 minutes and crashed out of the competition.
The Indians trailed through a major part of the opening game until saving two game points and levelling the score at 20-20. But the Malaysian pair took the decisive points to snatch the opener.
The second game was a one-sided affair with Rankireddy and Shetty trailing by seven points at one stage.
In mixed doubles, India’s pairing of Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Gadde went down to France’s Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue 12-21, 15-21 in 42 minutes.
Ayush Shetty was another Indian to suffer a setback in the competition. The 20-year-old lost to World No. 14 Alwi Farhan of Indonesia. Ayush won the first game 21-19 but lost the next two 9-21, 17-21 and bowed out.
