Sterre Kalis has been part of the fabric of Netherlands cricket since she was 14 years old and was still a teenager when she moved to Australia to further her career. She has also been a fixture on the English domestic curcuit for a number of seasons.
Now, still only 26, she is preparing to represent Netherlands Women in their maiden appearance at a T20 World Cup, also on English soil.
Here, as her country’s leading run-scorer in Women’s T20Is, she tells Valkerie Baynes and Firdose Moonda what it will mean to play on the biggest stage in territory she knows so well. She also re-visits the memorable scenes that ensued when her team qualified for the tournament in January and shares what she’s looking forward to when the World Cup gets underway in June.
