Texas Lands 2027 Verbal From Hungarian Olympian Vivien Jackl
NEW COMMIT: The University of Texas has scored a big verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season and beyond from Budapest, Hungary native Vivien Jackl. A versatile swimmer who especially excels in distance freestyle and IM, Jackl competed at the 2024 Olympic Games in the 400m IM and 1500m free.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of Texas. A special thanks to Coach Carol, Coach Erik and the entire coaching staff at Texas for giving me this opportunity. I’m so excited for this new chapter and can’t wait to be a Longhorn!”
Jackl has competed for Hungary on the international scene for the past four years. She earned bronze in the 400m IM at 2022 European Junior Championships, the same age she was when she set a national age group record in that event at the 2021 Hungarian National Youth Championships.
Jackl won the 400m IM at the European Junior Championships in 2023 and 2024. She placed seventh in the 400m IM and eighth in the 1500m free at the 2025 World Junior Championships after competing in three events at the 2025 World Championships.
In LCM, her best times include:
- 400m IM – 4:34.96
- 200m IM – 2:17.99
- 1500m free – 16:06.37
- 800m free – 8:27.88
- 400m free – 4:12.84
- 200m free – 2:02.17
- 200m fly – 2:10.36
- 200m back – 2:14.21
- 200m breast – 2:45.73
In SCY, those times convert to:
- 400 IM – 4:01.94
- 200 IM – 2:01.43
- 1500 free – 15:47.42
- 800 free – 9:29.05
- 400 free – 4:43.29
- 200 free – 1:47.18
- 200 fly – 1:54.91
- 200 back – 1:58.74
- 200 breast – 2:25.70
Jackl is a huge pickup for the Longhorns. Her best times (converted to yards) would’ve scored in the A-final of the 400 IM and 1650 free at the 2026 NCAA Championships while she would’ve placed in the B-final of the 200 fly.
