Alabama basketball 2025-26 opponent preview: St. John’s Red Storm

After cruising a 91-62 season opening win Monday night over North Dakota, the Alabama Crimson Tide are now set to begin a challenging stretch of games that starts this upcoming Saturday against one of college basketball’s best, the St. John’s Red Storm.

Led by head coach Rick Pitino, St. John’s was among the top regular season teams in college basketball a year ago, finishing with a 31-5 overall record. The Red Storm also won the Big East title at 18-2 in conference play, but would see their memorable season end early with a second round upset loss in the NCAA Tournament.

This season, St. John’s appears to have a loaded team once again under Pitino, and are expected to be one of the nation’s best yet again in 2025-26, making this undoubtedly a challenging game for Alabama this Saturday in New York.
