The Atlanta Dream spoiled Caitlin Clark’s historic performance on Tuesday night.
The Indiana Fever came crashing back down to earth following their dominant 93-58 blowout win against the Chicago Sky on opening night. On Tuesday, the Dream handed Indiana its first loss of the season by securing a hotly contested 91-90 win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Clark dropped a game-high 27 points in this one, along with 11 rebounds, five assists, and five three-pointers. The Fever still came up short against Brittney Griner and a determined Atlanta side, who have improved to 1-1 after their big win against Indiana.
Clark spoke to reporters after the game, and the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year took the opportunity to send a clear message to her teammates following their tough loss.
“We wanted to win this game, but this is great for our team,” Clark said, via ESPN. “A little adversity, how are we going to respond? I have to give my team a lot of credit; we never gave up. We found a way to get back in it.”

The silver lining for the Fever here is that they get to play the Dream again on Thursday. This time around, however, it’s Atlanta who’s going to be playing hosts in Clark and Co.’s first road game of the new season.

“We have a chance to go there and play them [again],” Clark continued. “We can get a little redemption if we go down there and play well.”
Tuesday’s loss was a real momentum-killer for the Fever, especially after their statement win against Chicago in their season opener. However, the good news is that they have an immediate opportunity to erase this defeat when they battle the Dream again in a couple of days.
