According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, the New Orleans native was found following a shooting in Cordova, Tennessee. There is an ongoing homicide investigation regarding the incident, which left four others hospitalized.
“SCSO responded to a scene on Fern Glade Cove in Cordova at 10:14 p.m,” according to Billy Gibbs of WREG. “Deputies say five people were injured in the shooting. When deputies arrived at the intersection of Forest Hill-Irene and Walnut Grove, they stopped a car, finding 18-year-old Corey Adams of New Orleans, Louisiana suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.”

Adams was set to begin his true-freshman season in a matter of weeks with the Rebels as a member of the 2025 signing class. At 6-foot-3, 245 pounds, Adams was a 3-star recruit, per 247Sports, rated as the No. 74 defensive lineman in the nation. He chose Ole Miss over the likes of the LSU Tigers, TCU Horned Frogs, and USC Trojans.
Going into the 2025 season, Adams was expected to develop on the defensive line for Ole Miss and likely redshirt before working up the depth chart in 2026 and beyond. Ahead of the season, Ole Miss is projected to be in the thick of the pack as far as SEC contenders go, working to contend with the likes of the Texas Longhorns, Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, and Tennessee Volunteers.
