The 2025 WNBA season is just a couple of weeks away, and the Chicago Sky could have an opportunity to go from last place in the Eastern Conference to making the playoffs.
In last month’s draft, they took Hailey Van Lith, the star guard from TCU who spent the 2023-24 season at Louisiana State alongside new Sky teammate Angel Reese. The hope is that Van Lith, the reigning Big 12 Player of the Year, will elevate what was a very weak Chicago offense last season.

Reese is already a household name in the basketball world after a very strong rookie campaign last year. Rapper Robert Coleman Thomas, also known as “Rob49,” reviewed a track of his named “Angel Reese.”
Reese was a big star at LSU, where she led the program to the national championship in 2023 over Iowa, which was led by Caitlin Clark. She was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, and for the season, she averaged 23.0 points, 15.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.6 blocks a game.
As a rookie in the WNBA last season, she put up 13.6 points and led WNBA with 13.1 rebounds a game. She was named to the All-Star team, and she was the runner-up in the Rookie of the Year balloting behind Clark.

The two seem to be developing a legitimate rivalry that stems from the 2023 national title game. This rivalry has even been compared by some to the one Magic Johnson and Larry Bird had that made the NBA a major sports league in the mid-1980s.
