Michigan Football had us watching until the very last play, once again. Unfortunately, the Wolverines fell short after battling one of the top teams in the country. The defense fought hard, but Michigan’s offense couldn’t get into the end zone. In overtime, Indiana scored quickly. Michigan didn’t have a response. The final in this one was 13-6. A loss never feels great, but fans are really unhappy with one person.
That person is OC Jason Beck

Alright, now that we’ve got that out of our system, it’s tough not to be annoyed at the play calling in this game. Michigan had multiple red zone opportunities. They couldn’t score a touchdown. It was particularly frustrating watching Beck call a few third-and-short plays that just made me want to punch a wall.
Or kick a trash can.
That has us all thinking … who’s next?
It’s no surprise that people are unhappy with Beck after this one. We’ve had a few seasons with offenses that weren’t great, but this season is really taking the cake. When OC Kirk Campbell was in charge, it was pretty obvious the quarterback cupboard was bare after winning a national championship. Then OC Chip Lindsey came to town. Things looked good at times, but two running backs got seriously injured, derailing some of his successes. With all the calls to hire another guy, fans have ideas for who they think could take over.

You know it’s tough when you have a coaching situation on par with Rich Rod and Brady Hoke definitions of bad. We thought 2024 & 2025 were rough; this feels way worse. The vibes right now are terrible. And that’s after hanging with a ranked team that just won a national championship last season.

JAZZYCMK: Can’t score touchdowns
For all the negativity about the offense, it did seem like these players were trying with everything they had to win. I’m still pretty proud of these players for staying in the game until the very last down. The players on this team really do have talent and heart; it just isn’t coming through in games, and that’s where it matters.

Still, that defense is really good
The defense is pretty fantastic. The Wolverines held Indiana to just six points in regulation despite the Hoosiers forcing turnovers and getting the ball back with a short field. The Wolverines didn’t break during four quarters, but gave up a touchdown after some really clever play calls by Indiana.
The Wolverines held Indiana to just 81 passing yards. Indiana averaged nearly 250 per game heading into this matchup. Michigan also held the Hoosiers to 4-of-14 on third down. Cornerback Zeke Berry picked off Josh Hoover, something no other team has done this season. It really is a remarkably talented and well-coached unit. Unfortunately, the offense wasn’t able to help them out today.

Looking at the schedule, bowl eligibility could be off the table if the Wolverines don’t turn it around against Rutgers next week. We know you’re still thinking about Saturday’s game. Share more of your thoughts in the comments below!
