After entering her name into the NCAA’s transfer portal on April 6, former Iowa women’s basketball guard Teagan Mallegni has committed and signed to play for the Wisconsin Badgers next season.
The rising junior will join sophomore-to-be guard Addie Deal in Madison as the second member of the Hawkeyes program to make the flip to the Badgers this offseason.

While there was promise for the 6-foot-1 guard to take on more of an impactful role, Mallegni’s early-season injury setbacks and subsequent slip in the depth chart limited her to being a reserve off the bench. In just 15 appearances last season, she averaged 1.5 points and 1.3 rebounds per game on 24.2% field goal shooting and 15% from 3-point range.
Across 45 games played in her two seasons at Iowa, she closes her Hawkeyes career averaging 2.6 points and 1.8 rebounds while shooting 31.8% overall from the floor and 20.8% from 3-point territory.
Mallegni leaves Iowa City having scored 119 points, totaling 83 rebounds, assisting 25 times, registering 14 steals, and eight blocks.

As a native of McFarland, Wisconsin, which is only about nine miles outside of Madison, committing to the Badgers not only provides Mallegni with an opportunity to earn increased playing time but also allows her to be much closer to her family and hometown.
