England marked the 500th game in their history with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Iceland at Reykjavik.

The Lionesses came into the clash riding on the momentum of their midweek win over Spain and went ahead in the first half through a cinical Alessia Russo finish.

Iceland came out a different side in the second half and pushed hard for an equaliser, with goalkeeper Hannah Hampton making a string of crucial saves late on.

But ultimately, England held on to take a big step towards securing automatic qualification for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.
