Liverpool 2-0 Fulham: Ngumoha, Salah goals secure important win at Anfield – as it happened

Liverpool won their first Premier League match since the end of February after goals from starlet Rio Ngumoha and Mohamed Salah made the difference on Saturday.

17-year-old Ngumoha raised the roof at Anfield after his 36th minute finish — a superb curled effort into the bottom corner after some nifty trickery to carve out the angle.

And just minutes later, the outgoing Mohamed Salah doubled the hosts’ lead with a similar strike off the right — a near mirror image of the opener, as the winger enjoyed himself in front of the Anfield faithful.

Chasing the game, Fulham made more happen in the second half, but weren’t able to seriously test Giorgi Mamardashvili as they looked second best.

Here’s how it happened.

After confirmation earlier this week that there are five places in next year’s Champions League on offer for Premier League clubs, Liverpool were looking to stay ahead of Chelsea — who will welcome Manchester City on Sunday.

Heading to Anfield 11th in the table, Marco Silva’s men kicked off just five behind the hosts, but lost ground to the European-chasing pack with the defeat.

Harry Wilson, who has 10 in the league this season for the side, returned to Anfield, having left Liverpool in 2021.
