Mark Beecher appointed as Archery GB performance director

by admin

Archery GB has appointed Mark Beecher as its new performance director to lead national federation’s world class programme, reinforcing the organisation’s ambitions to further elevate British archery on the international stage.

Beecher brings over nine years of experience as head of performance at Badminton England, where he transformed the Olympic performance environment and established a complete para badminton talent pathway.

He will officially begin his new role at the end of June, overseeing the development and delivery of British archery’s high-performance system in the build-up toward the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

I will be fully embracing the opportunity to join Archery GB at this exciting time of its development, as we enter the LA Games cycle with its centralised training and commitment towards greater alignment of the pathway to the performance programme,” said Beecher.

I’m looking forward to supporting the programme, the talented staff and athletes as we build towards sustained success at Los Angeles 2028 and beyond with commitment, clarity, and passion.”

His arrival comes at a pivotal time for the sport. Archery GB was recently awarded the 2028 European Championships the first time the event will be hosted in Great Britain since 2016 and, just over a year ago, opened a new national performance centre at Lilleshall.

Chief executive Ruth Hall said Beecher’s appointment reflects the federation’s long-term performance vision.

“As well as Mark’s past achievements and delivery, it is his commitment to athlete-centred, values-driven leadership, and to building a positive, supportive, inclusive, high-performing culture, which has truly set him apart and was a key factor in his appointment as performance director.”

Archery GB is the national governing body for archery in Great Britain.
