Quarterback Kavian Bryant, out of Palestine, Texas, has quickly become one of the most sought-after prospects in the 2027 recruiting class.

Rivals Industry Rankings place him as a four-star recruit, the No. 2 quarterback, the No. 7 player in Texas and the No. 39 player in the nation.

The past two seasons for Westwood High School, he’s put up impressive numbers, completing 278-of-377 passes for 4,724 yards, 67 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He’s also rushed for 1,521 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Combining all of that, he’s gained a lot of interest, receiving offers from the Texas Longhorns, Michigan Wolverines, Florida Gators, Texas Tech Red Raiders and Texas A&M Aggies.

SEC Team Predicted to Win Bryant’s Commitment

Many teams will be disappointed by the end of this battle, though, and in an article from Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman, he predicts the Longhorns will come out on top.

“If a decision were made today, I love where Texas is positioned with the elite 2027 signal caller,” Spiegelman wrote. “A.J. Milwee and Steve Sarkisian made a sizable impression on Bryant when he threw for the staff in June. He loves the idea of leading a playoff contender.”

Texas has also gotten a closer look at Bryant as a player, being one of just five programs to host him for a visit. On June 5, he traveled to Austin for a camp and received his offer from the Longhorns the same day.

Texas’ QB Options Beyond Bryant

However, this battle is far from over. Spiegelman noted the Red Raiders are the biggest threat to swoop Bryant, while the Florida State Seminoles are set to host him for their season opener against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Aug. 30.

With nothing set in stone, Texas is keeping its eyes on other quarterback options, with the Rivals recruiting prediction machine giving them the second-best chances (3.6%) to land four-star Payton Houston.

Other than that, the only quarterback the Longhorns have offered in the 2027 class is four-star Brady Edmonds, who’s been committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes since December.
