The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, has today welcomed the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) as a full member of the FIA, representing the U.S. in mobility services, tourism, and automotive advocacy.

Representing an industry that contributes nearly $337 billion in economic impact to the United States, and supporting 1.3 million jobs within the country, SEMA’s integration into the global network of FIA Member Clubs strengthens the Federation’s mission to advance innovation in mobility, road safety, and sustainability worldwide.

Also joining as a business member, SEMA and the FIA will bolster each other’s work in the U.S. and global safety and mobility policy arenas at a time in which advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous vehicles are shaping the automotive industry in transformative ways.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, said: “The FIA is delighted to welcome SEMA as a full member, reinforcing our shared commitment to advancing mobility, road safety, and sustainability worldwide. With SEMA’s vast industry expertise and strong leadership in the United States, this partnership strengthens global efforts to drive innovation and shape the future of automotive technology. Together, we will collaborate on safety and mobility policies at a time of significant change, ensuring a dynamic and forward-thinking approach for all members.”

Mike Spagnola, SEMA President and CEO, said: “This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to work with such an esteemed player in the automotive space, and to provide strong, proven advocacy structure and support for the organisations’ shared policy goals in the U.S. and abroad, particularly for ADAS and mobility policy, which promise to be defining issues for the automotive community. I am looking forward to this new era of collaboration.”
