After leading South Carolina to a national championship win over Caitlin Clark and Iowa, Kamilla Cardoso was selected No. 3 overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
Joining Cardoso in Chicago was fellow rookie and WNBA All-Star Angel Reese. The duo started the majority of their games in the frontcourt together, helping the Sky contend for a playoff spot for most of the 2024 season.

Reese’s statistics were certainly more eye-opening, averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game. But Cardoso, the 6-foot-7 center out of Brazil, made her presence felt on the defensive side of the ball, recording 1.4 blocks per game.
Cardoso finished her rookie year at 9.8 points on 52.1% shooting and 7.9 rebounds.

Ahead of the 2025 WNBA season, her second, Cardoso joined NBA Brazil during the Sky’s media day, answering a few questions in her native language, Portuguese.
Numerous social media accounts translated one question Cardoso was asked, which was roughly, “Who is the most promising player in the WNBA outside of herself?”

“Caitlin Clark,” Cardoso responded.
Cardoso notably picked the rival Indiana Fever’s All-WNBA guard over her own Chicago teammate, but she did have Reese as her “most famous contact.”
Clark and the Fever got the best of Cardoso and the Sky in 2024, winning three of their four contests. But the center had one of her best performances of the year against Indiana, recording 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting and 10 rebounds in the 88-87 June 6 win.
The Sky and their frontcourt duo will get a shot at Clark and the Fever in their opening regular season game on May 17th in Gainbridge Fieldhouse (Indianapolis, Indiana).
